INTRODUCTION

Agriculture Reform​​

Agriculture Reform (AgroRef) Uganda is a Non-Governmental and Not-for -Profit Organization focusing on advancing agricultural policy reforms, budget advocacy and supporting building of systems, fostering values of equity, accountability, transparency and sustainability of organisations especially small holder farmer organizations including but not limited to agricultural cooperatives using a Human Rights Based Approach.

RECALLING that Uganda is predominantly an agricultural economy and recognizing that farmer Organisations specifically cooperatives historically have played a significant role in mobilizing farmers to collectively work towards achieving shared benefits;
COMMITTED to contributing to a better future and establishing a strong socio-economic Uganda by strengthening incomes of small-holder farmers;

Serving farmers in EXERCISING their inherent and absolute right to food and encouraging full participation of every Uganda regardless of creed, social status, gender, religion, age etc,

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

And having scanned the operating environment for farmer organisations especially agricultural cooperatives in Uganda, and realizing that a lot of gaps still exist in the sector and recognizing the immense contribution of agriculture especially that of small-holder farmers; AgroRef was established to contribute to bridging this gap and promotion of principles of cooperatives, streamlining organizational management and governance and supporting institution to establish mechanisms that encourage probity, accountability, transparency and equity. Accordingly AgroRef will give special emphasis to promoting the rights of small-holder farmers. AgroRef recognizes that promotion of farmers’ intentions requires synergy and collaboration and in its activities will seek to work collaboratively with other actors in the agricultural and cooperatives sector
Our Mission

To drive agricultural policy reforms especially for agricultural cooperatives prioritizing inclusivity and sustainability, driving a Human Rights Approach coupled with strengthening management and governance of farmer led and focused organizations.
